“So you want to go back to Egypt…?” This was a title of a song (1980 or so) written by the late Keith Green (HERE‘s the song in case you want to listen to it). It was a song about the Israelites who complained so much in the Sinai Desert that they wished to return back to the land of the pyramids. They longed to live in the land of “leaks and onions by the Nile” instead of living as free people under Moses’ leadership.
It’s been since 2011 that I have personally been in Egypt. Seems like forever! It was back in May-June, 1982 that I first visited Egypt. I spent an entire month (with a friend of mine) in this amazing ancient country. Since then I’ve led around 10 tours to Egypt (I personally forget the number), all amazing experiences. With Egypt more stable and safe politically, and with tourism returning, this is why I am excited to offer two upcoming trips to Egypt in 2015 and 2016.
Egypt is getting a lot of attention now. Hollywood has even made a movie about it (The Exodus, Gods and Kings). While I hope to see this movie soon, I just hope it’s close to “biblical” in how the story surrounding Moses and the Pharaoh. Speaking about the Bible, Egypt is a country mentioned early on in Genesis. It was one of Noah’s descendants that re-populated the world in what is now called Egypt (see Genesis 10:6, Egypt is referred to as “Mitzraim“). Egypt was a country visited by Abraham, Joseph, Jacob, Moses (of course), Jeremiah, and even Joseph, Mary, and Jesus (Matthew 2:13-23).
Included in the Egyptian program on each of the upcoming trips are the Valley of the Kings, Luxor, The Great Sphinx, The Great Pyramids, and much, much, more. The May, 2016 tour (to be up on the web site very soon!) includes a 4 day Nile cruise “up” the Nile (from Aswan to Luxor).
