A Traditional Location
Being able to walk in the footsteps of Jesus is a special reward on every biblical tour of Israel. While there are traditional sites and locations where Jesus served, there are also authentic locations. The place where we visit in the video below is a mix of the two. This traditional location of the Mt. of Beatitudes dates only back to the 1930s. However when we take a careful look at the topography of the area, it could have been here where Jesus preached His “Sermon on the Mount.” We will never know of course if this is the area. I also like to suggest that perhaps the “mount” was the lower slopes of Mt. Arbel.
No matter where it happened, the truth of Jesus’ words still have a solid application for us. The words He shared (recorded in Matthew 5-7) to the multitudes was no doubt His “go-to” message about the kingdom of heaven. After all, Jesus came to teach about the kingdom (Mark 1) and invited people to be part of it. He invited people from all walks of life to allow the “reign and rule” of God to transform their life.
Of course in accepting Jesus’ kingdom teaching meant accepting Him as the Messiah!
