A “Stand-Alone” Palace-Fortress
Biblical Israel Ministries & Tours (BIMT) is all about teaching the Bible in the context of the land of Israel and other biblical countries (Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, Greece, and Italy). There are over 100 biblical sites in Israel alone that have been excavated. Masada is one of them!
Below you will see one of our latest YouTube Bible teachings. I want to take you to one of the palace-fortresses of Herod the Great called Masada. Located on the edge of the Judean Desert and close to the western shoreline of the Dead Sea, this fortress rises about 1,000 feet. David probably used this “stand-alone” mountain as a pale of refuge himself (1 Samuel 24). But it was Herod the Great who developed it. He built walls, storage rooms, palaces, and cisterns.
