The Home of Micah
Biblical Israel Ministries & Tours (BIMT) is all about teaching the Bible in the context of the land of Israel and other biblical countries (Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, Greece, and Italy). There are over 100 biblical sites in Israel alone that have been excavated. The site of ancient Mareshah its our destination in this teaching video.
Mareshah is located in the Shephelah (lowlands) of Judah. During centuries of Israelite and Judean history, this region served as a buffer zone between the Philistines on the coastal plain and the Hill Country of Judah. While the archaeological site of Mareshah is not too impressive any longer, it still reminds us of the role the city played in biblical history, and the prophet who was from here. His name was Micah.
Micah shared both words of warning (chapter 1) as well as words of encouragement and hope (Micah 5 especially). He lived in the Eighth Century BC and was contemporary with Isaiah. He is the prophet who predicted the Messiah birth in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2).
