An encouraging word from Mark 5

Biblical Israel Ministries & Tours (BIMT) is all about teaching the Bible in the context of the land of Israel and other biblical countries (Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, Greece, and Italy). We teach the historical geography of the Bible as well as archaeology, customs and culture of the land. We aim to make connections between  the Bible and the land in all that we do.

This is another session in the new series of teaching videos called “Devotions from Israel.” This brief five-minute devotional comes from Mark 5. This story is about the transformation of the demoniac. I hope this brief word brings you encouragement today!

About the Devotional

Jesus came to usher in the kingdom of God. He invited people to repent and believe the Good News (Mark 1). While he primarily served His own Jewish community, once in a while He reached out to Gentiles.
In the story of Mark 5, Jesus crosses to the east side of the Sea of Galilee. While His disciples stay in the boat to avoid defilement from a Gentile, Jesus befriends a demoniac. This man is a crazy man who no one could control up to this point. Yet Jesus cast out the legion of demons dwelling within him, forcing them into a herd of boar/pigs who end up drowning in the lake below.

“Mark 5 is really a story of total transformation. It is also a story that reveals the priority of telling our story of how God touched our life. The transformed demoniac really was one of the first evangelists of the Gospels!

Sea of Galilee
As for the man, he is transformed. He recognized who Jesus was. He even wants to go with Him. Jesus instructs him to go share what happened to him with his family and friends. Jesus encouraged him to share his story of transformation with others.
I hope you enjoy this video below. These five minute devotionals will be produced on a regular basis. We will try to share two devotionals per week at the start. As you are encouraged by the video, please consider sharing this post with others for their encouragement as well.
